Remember the Stones

One way that a significant life event can have a greater impact is by establishing a memento or monument that keeps bringing your attention back to it. Listen in to see how God's people used a monument to remember how He did something amazing for them, and what it means for us today

If God has begun to do something in your life, what souvenir’s do you carry?

Carrying God

The Israelites thought that they were carrying God. They weren’t. God was carrying them. It was God who parted the waters, not the box.

It’s not your devotion, prayer, study, worship, that divides the physical, spiritual, relationship, mental, and financial waters in our life. It’s Jesus.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.. ~Matthew  11:28-30

Walking Through the waters

If you genuinely want to follow Jesus, it means he’s going to call you to the uncomfortable.

Mementos

…when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 7 tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord.. ~ Joshua 4:6-7

…the testimony of the Spirit is superior to reason. ~ John Calvin

You have a life that is changed by the grace of God.

What are the stories that you carry?

What are your mementos?

Does anybody know the stories of your life?

When we can’t see that we too have a story to tell, more than selling ourselves short, we sell God short.

I would be _______________, but for the grace of God.

But gratitude changes the pangs of memory into a tranquil joy. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

When we begin to express gratitude for the grace God has given us, that is found through Jesus, suddenly we can see our story, not as dull, mundane,  but with tranquil joy.

Testimony

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. ~ Romans 8:16

God allowed us to do our worst to Him so that He could do his best for us.

The Lord’s Supper is done in memory of Jesus’ suffering, and resurrection. The bread being his body for us; the cup his blood shed on our behalf.. ~ Erwin McManus

his is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.. ~ John 3:16-17 (MSG)
